Job Description and Responsibilities
We are looking for a Community Development Specialist with a passion for community development and its ability to impact people and shape communities. Potential candidate should have knowledge of urban housing and community development planning, principals of subsidized housing development, urban renewal housing rehabilitation and neighborhood revitalization. Candidates should posses strong writing, analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage many complex tasks simultaneously. CDS will report to the Director of Business Support.

Job Requirements:

  • Performs responsible administrative work involving program development, evaluation, extensive research to support APD Solutions analysis and reports on select targeted markets.

  • Conduct studies and collects data to determine the availability of resources for current or new programs as well as produce written reports.

  • Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.

  • Communicate with clients, lenders, non-profits or the public verbally or in one-on-one settings as it relates to company projects/programs.

  • Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation and grammar.

  • Work cooperatively with local municipalities, other governmental agencies, private organizations and the public.

  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report demographic, economic, and other research data.

  • Make significant decisions and exercise resourcefulness in resolving problems.

  • Document and report program progress, ensure that reports are filed in a timely manner-keep management advised of significant trends, findings and other issues.



Essential Job Qualification with the ability to:

  • Must possess a Bachelors Degree with at least 3-5 years of experience in Urban Planning, Public Policy, and Public/Business Administration.

  • Interest in community development, urban planning, public policy, social and economic development and green building;

  • Strong research and analytical skills

  • Self-motivated, high energy, strong work ethic

  • Well-developed people skills

  • Good judgment, positive mental attitude

  • Strong organization, leadership, and business management skills

  • Superior problem solving skills

  • Proven Ability to work in sales teams as well as cross-functional teams
